Thanks, the Brave Class has very good hull form indeed~

For reference, the last surviving Brave Class, the Brave Challenger (previously "Mercury"), remains the 6th fastest vessel (max. 60 Knot) in the world today!

370 motor with twin screw.

Is that 370 twin motor / twin screw or one 370 motor and twin screw through a gearbox of some type? Would be pleased for you to show the inside arrangements.

It's twin 370 with twin screw direct injection, i.e. without gearbox.

Let me take pictures when I return home tonite and show you.

I was not sure there was room for two 370 motors but there they are. Interesting special black color--I must look into these. As far as the kit goes, I always seem to think if it has 3 screws then it needs 3 screw power (it can be done!) and most patrol boats seem to have 3 engines/3 screws; but two will do.

Thanks for the photos.

For a small boat like the 1/72 one, there is really no need for 3 screws / 3 motors.

Yes, you're right; the real boat goes with 3 gas turbines.  You may make a model with 3 screws / 3 engines, but no doubt you would need a bigger boat, I believe at least a 1/35 , or bigger!

Good luck!

Hi guys, just got a 380 water cooled motor for my 1/72 OSA, and it runs well. Guess so long as the vessel runs, probably not a need to resemble the real vessel 100% ...

But, it would be interesting to witness the dynamic of three motors churning the water--which I think the typical setup is two counter-clockwise (left) rotation, one clockwise (right) ...like the Bismarck.

Also, (sometimes) I like the vessel to look good out of the water and when on display on the mantle above the fireplace . So scale appearance is much desired--it must have the proper number of propellers. But this is a secondary concern.

Perhaps three 130 to 180 size motors would fit? Just thinking out loud. Gruß.

Tough to balance out the 2: RC performance vs realistic appearance ...

For me, Am going for RC performance then appearance. For my 1/200 destroyers/battleship, there's no issue as there's plenty of room for 2 - 4 motors. However, for smaller vessels, say 1/350 or 1/72 missile/topedo boats, there could be a challenge, using smaller motors for 1/350 battleships is do-able, however, it may not give enough power required by 1/72 boats ... tough call ...

Well maybe the access to certain electronic components is limited--I find brushless difficult to obtain or somewhat costly but... Have you seen this:

The 1/72 Tamiya PT-15 is 20mm wider in the stern than the Vosper Perkasa but I believe the same motors used there will fit the slightly smaller Vosper. I like the possibilities and the challenge. I still like brushed motors and some high-speed 130 (competition slot car motor) might do the trick.
